The Venerable Canon Andrew Brashier
Director
The Venerable Andrew Brashier serves as the Archdeacon and Director of the Anglican Office of Education, Training, and Formation Directorate for the Jurisdiction of the Armed Forces and Chaplaincy (JAFC). He is the former Rector of the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd in Pelham, Alabama, former Dean of the Parish and Missions Deanery, and former Chancellor of the JAFC. Archdeacon Andrew is a regular contributor to The North American Anglican, Anglican Compass, and The JAFC Journal and writes regularly about ministry, family worship, daily prayer, book reviews, family oratories and the impact they can have in reigniting Anglicanism, along with the occasional poem. Brashier recently republished Nowell's Middle Catechism and previously republished Bishop John Jewel's Treatises on the Holy Scriptures and Sacraments. The second edition of his book, A Faith for Generations, is now available and focuses on family devotions and private prayer in the Anglican tradition. He authored the Foreword to the Prisoner's Edition, of the 2019 Book of Common Prayer. He currently hosts The Classic Anglican podcast, and formerly co-hosted The Miserable Offenders podcast.
Brashier has served on the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) Governance Task Force since 2014 and lectured at the Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (USA) annual conference, Christian Legal Society national conference, diocesan convocations and synods, clergy and lay training seminars, and leading parish retreats on a number of topics. He has also served as a guest on a number of podcasts, ranging from The 1662 Fellowship to the The Ad Orientem Podcast.
Brashier is a practicing attorney and licensed to practice before multiple state and federal courts. He has spoken and taught CLE's at a number of national conferences over a variety of legal topics, issues, and litigation. He is General Counsel to the nation's largest Christian ministry to prisoners, former prisoners, and their families and was previously the Senior Legislative Strategist over that organization's entire state government advocacy portfolio. He has published op-eds and been interviewed by major media outlets, testified before mutliple state legislative committees, and advocated on Capitol Hill. Previously, Brashier was a partner at one of the nation's largest plaintiffs firms, where he was named attorney of the year for his department, received the American Association of Justice's Wiedmann & Wysocki Award, is a two-time Super Lawyers “Rising Star,” selected as a "Top 40 Under 40” by The National Trial Lawyers, and is a Martindale-Hubbel AV Preeminent attorney, the highest rating as ranked by his peers. He is published in a number of national law journals and similar publications.
